Kenshi may seem overwhelming at first, but after some gathered experience, you’ll get better at this game and eventually… bored. That’s why this game is extra mod-friendly, there are mods that will increase the size of recruitable prisoners, mods that enhance your graphics, and many more cool things that I’ll include in this article. Anyways, let’s get started:
15. SOYLENT limbs
Did you start your base on land that’s not exactly fertile? Shortages of water? Worry not, with SOYLENT limbs you’ll be able to make food out of limbs of other unfortunate people that happened to be dismembered by you. Sounds gruesome, but as the author states, if you say “no cannibalism”, then it’s not cannibalism!
Why this mod is useful:
- Useful when you started a base on a complete wasteland of a zone(no water/fertility)
- Cool if you’re an edgelord who specializes in cannibalism!
- Also awesome if you’re an animal person…

14. Copper Ore Drill
Kenshi devs decided to include iron ore drills, but not copper ore drills - WHY? I dunno, but this mod fixes the problem and allows you to start a base in awesome spots that don’t have any copper ores. This mod alone brought me to the game again and made me start an outpost in the most inhospitable places ever!
Why this mod is useful:
- It automatically gathers copper for you. What else can you ask for?
- Allows you to start an outpost in places that are very poor in copper resources.
- Looks cool!

13. Finisher Feature Mod
Oh yes, here I am beating the crap out of Lord Phoenix for the 293rd time because he simply WON’T GODDAMN DIE. This useful mod allows you to collect skulls from unconscious people that you’ve managed to knock unconscious. That applies to Lord Phoenix!
Why this mod is useful:
- Allows you to kill people faster.
- You can also collect skulls. They’re fancy and you can feel like the Predator!

12. Play as Bad Guys
You ever wanted to play as the Skin Bandit? Now you can, this mod allows you to pick one of the evil factions and play as them. This mod becomes most useful when you’re burned out with Kenshi and you wanna try new things!
Why this mod is useful:
- Allows you to spawn in different zones.
- Let’s you play as completely repulsive and utterly evil factions…
- Also, you can also practice cannibalism. Yay!

11. Panic Room - New Building
Oh, no, you pissed off the Southern Hivers and now they’re gonna come and beat the crap out of you. You can either: curl up into a ball and proceed to get killed, or just download this mod and hide in that little, cozy shelter that will keep you safe. It’s essential for newer players and makes you feel actually comfortable!
Why this mod is useful:
- Kenshi is hard, this mod slightly makes it more bearable for newer players.
- You can use this thing literally everywhere!
- Cozy. Safe. Those are two words that you won’t hear in Kenshi!

10. Breadnought's Facepaints
I don’t know why, but this mod made me replay Kenshi and I completely adore it. Putting face paint on hundreds of my soldiers, makes them look like the biggest group of badasses that could conquer everything from The Great Desert to the Shek Kingdoms. It’s a cool cosmetical mod and is great for edgy roleplayers. A must-have!
Why this mod is useful:
- Gives your little army more personality and identity
- Makes you and your soldiers look badass, especially when slaughtering countless Holy Nation fanatics!
9. Lost in the Ashlands
This mod makes the world of Kenshi even more aggressive, factions will engage in more wars against each other, occupy territories and strategize their moves. You are also granted a few more playthroughs and random encounters!
Why this mod is useful:
- The author did a good job with adding war to the game, factions attack each other more and can occupy each other’s territories.
- You can start your game with a few new playthroughs, such as: “Let it be treason”, “Mark of the Veteran”, “No Rest for the Wicked”, etc.
- More dialogues!

8. Idle training
So what is this? You’re sick of grinding for higher stats? Worry not, as this mod will allow you to get stats by lifting weights, beating the crap out of wooden mannequins, and other activities. This mod is awesome if you’re bored of looking for people to beat the crap out of to improve your stats!
Why this mod is useful:
- Improve your character’s stats by not even being near the keyboard!
- Allows you to focus on other things, as your other characters are gettin’ ripped.

7. Slopeless
Let’s see, you see a cool mountain that you would like to build an outpost on, but unfortunately, your buildings won’t tolerate the uneven terrain the mountain is offering? Worry not, this mod will allow you to place buildings in the most ridiculous places that will defy the rules of physics. I love this mod as I love to build outposts on mountains and other weird, uneven terrains!

- Allows you to build buildings on steep or uneven lands.
- Cool for starting outposts in previously inaccessible areas!

6. Kenshi Kaizo
This mod alone adds so much content, I don’t even know what to start with. First of all, dialogues - this mod adds countless more dialogues, which spices the game a little bit more. The game becomes more difficult, bandits appear more frequently, and will most likely loot your inventory, millions of little bug fixes and tweaks that greatly improve Kenshi!
Why this mod is useful:
- Cool mod for veterans of Kenshi who want a bigger challenge!
- Carrying valuable people from factions will draw the attention of people of that faction
- Countless bug fixes and tweaks, little details that make the game highly enjoyable!

5. Fast Travel Machine
Do you hate walking from Sonorous Dark to the Leviathan Coast? Do you hate wasting 30 minutes of your time walking somewhere, only to get knocked out and enslaved by the Holy Nation? This mod allows you to fast travel from point A to point B, without wasting too much time!
Why this mod is useful:
- Allows you to transport your characters more efficiently
- Allows the building of multiple outposts across the map
- Saves up on time and nerves!

4. More Combat Animation Extended Edition
An amazing mod, if you’re looking to diversify the combat animations in Kenshi. This mod adds new attack animations and characters reacting realistically to strikes. Animations depend on the weaponry that you’re using and they look especially cool during massive battles!

- Diversifies the combat animations
- Makes combat far more intense and epic
- Combat becomes more unpredictable and fun!

3. New Weapons Dissemination Mod
One of my favorite mods that adds more weapons to the game. If you’re sick of running around with a Katana or a Plank, then this mod is definitely for you. It allows you to craft/find weapons with varying blunt/cutting damage and makes you look slightly more badass!
Why this mod is useful:
- Adds more OP weaponry for you to cut off limbs with
- Some weapons deal pure cutting damage
- Also some weapons bypass armour!
- The list of weapons is LONG. +30 weapons!

1. Kenshi Genesis
This mod has everything that Kenshi needs - countless new locations, new factions that will gladly kill you, new armors and weapons and in summary, Kenshi Genesis is basically a list of mods that greatly enhance this game. It’s a must-have if you are completely burned out in Kenshi after good 500 hours of game-time. Get it, takes a bit to download, but it’s worth the wait!

- 256 character limit
- more than 5000 new dialogues
- More attack slots
- New quests to complete
- and much, much more!
