This rhubarb basil smash is a refreshing summer smash co*cktail. Tart rhubarb is balanced out with the sweet syrup and the muddling of basil gives the co*cktail a brightness of flavor. This rhubarb smash is an easy summer co*cktail that will have you sipping all summer.
Start with my rhubarb syrup to make this recipe. Once you have a batch of syrup made you are going to want to also make a strawberry rhubarb margarita and a rhubarb sour co*cktail. Rhubarb Basil Smash Ingredients:
- Rhubarb syrup
- lemon juice, fresh
- basil leaves
- Gin
Rhubarb Smash Instructions:
- Fold a fresh basil leaf over the rim of a rocks glass and rub to flavor the rim of the glass.
- In the bottom of a co*cktail shaker muddle 6 basil leaves with ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice.
- Add 1 ounce of rhubarb syrup and 2 ounces of gin.
- Fill the co*cktail shaker ¾ full with ice.
- Close shaker and shake vigorously.
- Strain the rhubarb basil smash into a ice filled rocks glass.
- Garnish with a fresh basil leaf and/or a strip of rhubarb.
What is a smash co*cktail?
A smash co*cktail is an alcoholic beverage that contains an alcoholic spirit such as, but not limited to gin or vodka. A smash co*cktail will also have a sweetener such as honey, sugar, simple syrup or a flavored syrup. Also there is a herb and fresh fruit that is muddled. Served over ice and garnished with the featured flavors.
