Two England players of the recent past, Test spinner Jack Leach and T20 seamer Pat Brown, dominated with the ball in the One-Day Cup.

Pat Brown took 5-37 as Derbyshire thrashed Lancashire by nine wickets , while Leach also produced his List A best, going one better with 6-26 as Somerset also won easily, against Durham.

"I'm really enjoying playing 50-over cricket," said Leach, who is playing in this competition for the first time in three years and was making only his 21st List A appearance.

"It's a good format. I enjoyed being part of that performance."

It was even more convincing for Derbyshire as Brown returned from Men's Hundred duty to help bowl out Lancashire for 99 in just 20 overs en-route to a nine-wicket win.

"I've been away for a week without a game," said Brown, who is signed up with Northern Superchargers but has so far not figured.

"To come back and get some rhythm was nice. I've forgotten how tiring match overs are as I was blowing a bit."

The highest score for Lancashire was extras with 19 as only three players made double figures, including former England skipper Andrew Flintoff’s 16-year-old son Rocky, who made 13.

All three games in Group A ended well ahead of schedule.

The earliest finsh was at Derby, where Brown's return of 5-37 as Lancashire were trounced was the best List A bowling figures by a Derbyshire bowler against a first-class side since Graeme Welch in 2002.

Derbyshire only needed four bowlers as they got the job done in 20 overs to bowl out their opponents for just 99, Brown sharing the wickets with fellow pacemen Zak Chappell (2-19), Harry Moore (2-23) and Sam Conners (2-19).

It was the first time Lancashire have been dismissed for less than 100 in a List A game since being bowled out for 84 by Yorkshire in 2016 at Old Trafford, the Red Rose's one-day record 242-run defeat, when the hosts had a top order including Martin Guptill, Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler.

Lancashire old boy Luis Reece then hit an unbeaten 52, backed by 37 not out from Brooke Guest as Derbyshire raced to 100-1 to get the job done off the penultimate ball of the 20th over.

"It was great to get five," said Brown. 2But Sam and Chappy set it up beautifully.

"They really bowled well up top. When the rate is under control and we've got a few wickets it makes it easier for me. Victory is the most important thing. And we were ruthless."

Discarded England slow-left-armer Leach kept his hand in as Somerset hammered Durham by 133 runs at Chester-le-Street.

Lewis Goldsworthy made 93, backed in a second-wicket stand of 119 with youngster George Thomas (48), as Somerset made 241-9.

But, on a turning pitch, after the first four wickets fell for just eight runs in the space of 25 balls, Durham folded from 40-0 to 108 all out halfway through the 31st over to earn Somerset a second win in three games.

"The partnership between George Thomas and Lewis Goldsworthy was massively important. Probably worth even more than they scored," Leach told BBC Radio Somerset. "They should take huge confidence from it.

"There have been other times when I've bowled better on flatter wickets and not got the reward. But the breeze was coming across nicely for that drift, I was in good rhythm and it was spinning off the surface and the odd one skidding."

Also on four points, along with morning Group A leaders Worcestershire, are Kent and Hampshire, who met at Beckenham, where Harry Finch hit an unbeaten half-century to edge a low-scoring game by four wickets.

Beyers Swanepoel took 3-28 as Hampshire were bowled out for 168 in 41 overs, aided by 37 from number 10 Kyle Abbott.

Chasing 169 to win, Kent then lurched to 69-6 as Abbott took 3-16 from his full 10 overs before the obdurate Finch (53 off 94 balls) and Charlie Stobo (32) put together an unbroken stand of 74 to hand Hampshire defeat.

One-Day Cup holders Leicestershire responded well to the home hammering by Warwickshire as they beat Essex to win a splendid game of 581 runs at Chelmsford and make it two Group B victories out of three.

Sol Budinger followed up his maiden One-Day Cup ton against Essex at Kilworth last season by again hoisting three figures. The big-scoring left-hander hit 120 at a run a ball to earn a seven-wicket victory.

Essex had three half-centurions, Matt Critchley (55), Charlie Allison (51) and Noah Thain, who blasted four sixes in a quickfire 53 off 30 balls, as Essex posted a seemingly competitive 290-9.

But Budinger hit four sixes and 10 four, backed by Lewis Hill (42) and India star Ajinkya Rahane (37), as the visitors won with 15 balls to spare.

Glamorgan edged ahead of Warwickshire in Group B on net run rate as they matched the Bears' three wins out of three by beating Nottinghamshire.

Career-bests from Andy Gorvin and Eddie Byrom, one of two Glammy centurions, helped the hosts get the job done by eight wickets.

Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed hit 89, sharing a stand of 86 with Freddie McCann as the visitors posted a target of 274-9, in which Gorvin took 5-56.

The hosts then chased that down with relative ease to win on 278-2 with 27 balls to spare, Byrom finishing on 123 and Colin Ingram making 103.

Yorkshire made it two Group B wins out of three as they beat Sussex by 49 runs in front of a healthy 3,417 crowd at Clifton Park, York.

Yorkshire skipper Shan Masood led the way with 63 as the Tykes were bowled out for 261, although four other players did all get into the 30s.

Fin Bean and Dom Bess, who hit one of only two sixes in the innings, both made 37 at less than a run a ball, while James Wharton made 38.

But, despite good efforts from captain Tom Clark (55) and wicketkeeper Charlie Tear and Oli Carter, who made 43, Sussex were all out for 212 in 44 overs.
