Ingredients

Best Peach Sangria Recipe (2)

Pinot grigio:Let's chat wine. I usually make this sangria with pinot grigio, whichis a dry white wine thattypically takes on notes of citrus, honeysuckle, pear and stone fruit — all delicious with peaches.

Peach nectar:You can typically find this in the fruit juice aisle of most grocery stores. Not only does this give us that wonderful peachy flavor but it also acts as our sweetener. While some sangria recipes include simple syrup, I don't think it's necessary with the peach nectar.

Peach liqueur:For another peachy boost, we use peach liqueur. I've also made this with peach brandy and peach schnapps, both of which make for an equally delicious summer sangria, so know that those options are available if that's what's available.

Triple sec:This is an orange liqueur. If you prefer a more top-shelf option, try Cointreau or Grand Marnier.

Soaking fruit:Ripe peaches are a must for obvious reasons. I prefer yellow peaches, but you can certain use white peaches. You're also free to use other fruits. Pineapple and mango, for instance, would add a nice tropical vibe, and fresh raspberries are a wonderful pairing with summer peaches.

Step-by-Step Instructions

If you've ever made sangria, you already know how simple it is. This easy peach sangria recipe is no exception. Let's walk through the process.

Step 1: We simply grab alargepitcher and combine a bottle of white wine with peach nectar, peach liqueur and triple sec (photos 1-4).

Step 2: Now we add our soaking fruit (photo 5). Not only will the fruit help sweeten the sangria but it will also impart more flavor, which is why I like to include a few different options.

Step 3: All that's left is to give it a stir (photo 6) and then refrigerate. And just like that, we have a pitcher of homemade peach sangria waiting for us to sip.

Best Peach Sangria Recipe (5)

Now pour yourself a glass, enjoy and relax on the patiowith a pitcher of peach sangria. You deserve iton this hot summer evening.

How to Store

Once you mix the sangria, cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and keep it in the refrigerator. I find sangria is at its best when consumed within 24 hours, but as long as its covered and refrigerated, it should last up to five days.

If you want to keep the sangria for that long, I recommend removing the fruit after the first day. By that point, the sangria will have already absorbed the flavor, but the fruit will continue to break down as it sits, and you may start getting small off-tasting fruit bits.

Serving Suggestions

When you're ready to serve, fill a white wine glass with plenty of ice and the sangria. Easy enough. But here are a few ways you can jazz up the presentation.

  • Cut a slit in the middle of a peach slice and place iton the rim of the glass.
  • Drop in a few strawberry slices.
  • Garnish with a fresh mint sprig on the side of the glass for a pop of color — just make sure you clap the mint sprig in your hands before garnishing to release its fragrance.
  • Top with an edible flower for a dainty touch.
  • Serve with a cute paper straw. A copper straw also looks nice with the peach hue.

Recipe FAQs

Can sangria sit overnight?

You bet. In fact, you really should let the sangria refrigerate overnight for best results.I don't recommend making this sangria at thetime of serving. At minimum, give the sangria four hours to chill, but overnight is best.

Allowing this homemade peach sangria to sit in the refrigerator overnight gives the fruit flavors time to meld. The sangria is noticeably more delicious the day after it sits in the refrigerator, so you'll be glad you gave it time to work its magic. Plus, this make-ahead convenience is perfect for entertaining. Bonus.

Can you make a nonalcoholic peach sangria?

Sure, you canuse a nonalcoholic wine and swap the peach liqueur for more peach nectar. If you need some suggestions, here's a guide to some of thebest nonalcoholic wine options.

Can you use peach juice instead of peach nectar?

Youcansubstitute peach juice for peach nectar, but keep in mind that peach juice isn't quite as sweet. I still don't think a simple syrup is necessary with peach juice, but I also rarely add a simple syrup to my sangria. But if you prefer a sweeter sangria, you may want to sip it first and see if you'd like to add simple syrup to suit your taste.

Can you use frozen peaches?

Sure, frozen peach slices work fine. Once the frozen peaches go into the liquid, they'll thaw quickly, or you can thaw them ahead of soaking.

Sometimes it can be tricky to find ripe peaches, but frozen peaches go into the freezer at peak ripeness. Frozen peaches ensures you get perfectly ripe fruit.

Variations and Substitutions

Substitute another style of crisp white wine: A pinot gris or sauvignon blanc would also work nicely, and a riesling is always tasty with peaches. Just make sure you use a dry riesling — a sweet riesling may be too cloying. A white zinfandel or another rosé make a lovely choice as well.

Give it a sparkling finish:For a bubbly topping, you can pour in a 12-ounce can of club soda or peach-flavored sparkling water into the sangria right before serving. Ginger ale or ginger beer is also tasty if you'd like to give this peach sangria a slight spice kick. Another option is to simply leave out a few cans by the pitcher to allow people to add their own bubbly topping if they'd like.

Use a sparkling wine altogether: Want to use a sparkling wine? I recommend still allowing the liqueur, peach nectar and soaking fruit to sit in the refrigerator and then pour in the sparkling wine, such as Champagne, prosecco, cava or rosè, in the pitcher right before serving.

Swap the peach nectar, liqueur and fruit for another variety: Once you have a base sangria recipe, you can easily adjust it to make your own customizations.Fruit nectars and liqueurs come in so many flavors, such as pineapple, mango, pear, guava and apricot.

For instance, use pear nectar, pear liqueur, pear slices and pinot grigio to make a pear sangria. Feel free to get creative and please let me know what other white wine sangria recipes you create — I'd love to try them.

Expert Tips

Save the fancy wine for another occasion: Don't use an expensive bottle of wine, but get something you'd drink even if you weren't dressing it up as sangria. If you need recommendations, check out thislist of affordable wines, which includes plenty of pinot grigio options.

Add a touch of spice:Peaches are wonderful with cinnamon. If you'd like a spiced peach sangria, add a couple cinnamon sticks to the mixture before refrigerating. Always feel free to make any recipe your own with these kind of fun additions.

Plan ahead: The sangria absolutely needs time to refrigerate to infuse those fruity flavors. This isn't a drink you can make at the last minute.

Perfect Pairing

Peaches and mozzarella belong together. The combination gives a peaches-and-cream vibe, which is never a bad thing. Peaches also work well with prosciutto and fresh basil, so I happen to have the ultimate pizza to pair with this sangria. Give mygrilled peach, prosciutto and pesto pizzaatry.

For a lovely dessert pairing, I especially love my bourbon-peach clafoutis or honey-lavender ice cream. Peach sangria was made for these two sweet treats.

If you’re looking for the perfect summer drink, this peach sangria is it. I have no doubt this will be your new go-to summer sangria recipe.

Cheers!
